Town Parks

One of the perks of living in Windermere is the wide variety of beautiful parks located within our two square miles. Whether you are looking for a place to let your kids play, a shady spot to have a picnic or barbeque, enjoy outdoor activities such as volleyball, tennis, or frisbee golf, a place to launch your boat onto Lake Bessie or onto Lake Butler and the Chain of Lakes, or a looking for a total body workout, Windermere has you covered.

Please note that per Town of Windermere Code Sec. 22-46 alcoholic beverages are prohibited at all Town parks, and visitors consent to container inspection by Windermere PD.

We hope you enjoy your time outside, “among the lakes,” in our meticulously maintained and ever-improving parks.

NOTICE:

The Cal Palmer Park will be down until further notice. Playground equipment is being removed and replaced. We do not have a date the park will be reopened, but we will keep you posted. Thank you for understanding.

Boat Ramp Access

As of April 28, 2023 – Access to Bessie & Fernwood will Require a Park Pass

There are three ramps located within the incorporated limits of the Town of Windermere:

  • Public, Orange County Ramp on E 6th/Conroy onto Lake Down
  • Resident-Only Ramp at Fernwood Park (Lake Butler) – we recommend accessing the vehicular gate via Butler Street rather than W 7th Avenue due to maneuverability
  • Resident-Only Ramp at Lake Bessie

Passes are $35 and will include a key to the Lake Bessie Ramp, a unique code to the Fernwood Park Ramp and/or Pedestrian Gate. Passes are not discounted if access to only one ramp is desired. There is no charge for residents wishing to obtain a Fernwood Pedestrian Gate code only. Fernwood Park is open from dawn to dusk. Access codes entered before dawn or after dusk will not work for either the vehicular or pedestrian gate.

To expedite the process, please arrive at Administration office prepared with the 3 Ps: PAPERWORK, PROOF OF RESIDENCE, AND PAYMENT.

Download, print, and fill out the Park Pass paperwork.
