| On March 22nd, 2014, the Town of Windermere lost a son, brother, and hero when Officer Robert German was killed in the line of duty. The entire community united during this tragic time and truly demonstrated why Central Florida, and specifically the Town of Windermere, is such a great place to work, live, and raise a family.
Through various memorials, blue ribbon campaigns, and outpourings of support, the Town came together and honored our fallen hero. The Windermere Police Department Foundation, Inc. was established in 2014 in the wake of this tragedy. Our purpose is to support, encourage, and benefit the citizens served by the Windermere Police Department, the employees and families of the Windermere Police Department, and the Central Florida community as a whole.
The Windermere Police Department Foundation, Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit (EIN # 46-5726880). Our board and members are volunteers: all donations are used to further the Foundation’s mission. The Foundation supports both the community and first responders through community engagement events and donations in the form of financial contributions to the families of fallen law enforcement officers in Florida, supplies to community centers and law enforcement agencies, service projects that benefit our community, and various other philanthropic endeavors. The Foundation has recently also established a scholarship fund which will benefit the next generation of Police Academy recruits.
It is our hope, that through the Foundation, Officer German’s legacy will continue to live on in the community and in the lives of those that the Foundation has impacted.
