WPD Top 3 in the State of Florida!
We just returned from the 2015 Law Enforcement Challenge Awards Ceremony hosted at the Rosen Shingle Creek in Orlando. As a result of our 2014 efforts our team placed second in DUI Enforcement challenge, second in the Florida Law Enforcement Challenge and third in the National Click-it-or-Ticket Campaign and we are now recognized as one of the top small agencies in the entire state of Florida. This ranking is a result of our participation in all the programs (Click-it-or-ticket, Pedestrian Safety, DUI Enforcement Details, Education Classes, DUI Schools, etc.,) throughout the year.
Along with these bragging rights we will receive a total of $35,000 credit for items to purchase relating to traffic enforcement and safety equipment. We desperately need a message board to help with town special events, traffic control and communicating with our residents on many traffic safety issues. We will be able to outfit a new vehicle and not have to pay for the equipment and provide numerous other traffic safety equipment allowable under the guidelines. We also were fortunate to win a new $2K state of the art laser/radar all saving us significant funds in our budget.
I am exceedingly proud of the men and women of the Windermere Police Department, their hard work, dedication to service and most of all perseverance that has rebranded this agency most worthy of this recognition. We have had tremendous support by the Town of Windermere residents, Town Council, Mayor Bruhn and Town Manager Robert Smith. We humbly share this honor with Officer Robbie German’s family because he is forever enveloped in our successes and serves as an inspiration. He would be proud of us fulfilling our agency motto; to serve with Honor, Integrity and Service to others.
Congratulations to our entire Windermere team!
