Effective Wednesday, April27, 2016, at 6:00 am, the Winter Garden Police Department started to provide dispatch and 911 services to the Town of Windermere. What does this mean?
· All 911 calls within our Town will now go through WGPD who will then dispatch the Windermere Police Department (WPD). Any non-emergency call can be made directly to the WGPD Communications Center, 407-905-6333.
· The Windermere Police Officers will still carry the Patrol telephone and can be called for any questions/concerns or non-emergency types of calls. That number is: 321-299-2414.
· After hours 5:00 pm – 8:00 am and on weekends, any calls to the Windermere Police Department will automatically transfer to the WGPD Communications Center, so if you are calling this number for a non-emergency then let it ring and you will reach a dispatcher who will then relay the message/call to our officers.
· For residents with an alarm system that is monitored where police/fire are dispatched as the result of an alarm activation, please call your alarm company and change the call center to:
o Winter Garden Police Department
o 251 W. Plant Street
o Winter Garden, Florida 34787
**If your alarm company has the Orange County Sheriff’s Office as the point of contact and your alarm is activated, the call will automatically be transferred to Winter Garden. However, to cut down on time to dispatch an officer, it is very important that you call your alarm company as soon as possible and provide them with this new information.
Thank you for your patience as we make this transition. Please feel free to call should you have any questions.
